Scheduling Your Group Visit
Two-week advance reservations are required for educational programs, guided tours, scavenger hunts, and use of the Sports Gallery for a bag lunch.

To Make Your Reservation:
Call our reservationist at (757) 393-8031 ext. 21 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Field trips are scheduled Tuesdays - Fridays. The museum is closed on Mondays, Labor Day through Memorial Day. After scheduling your visit, you will be faxed a reservation confirmation along with a packet including a map, payment form, and museum policies.

Group Pricing
Group pricing for 10 or more is $6.00 per student. Admission, the guided tour, and an educational program are included.

Payment
Payment for all programs, scavenger hunts, guided tours, and admissions are required in full on the day of the visit. MasterCard and Visa are accepted. Checks should be made payable to “Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum.”

When You Arrive
Education staff will greet your group at the front entrance on High Street. Your group leader must present the payment form (with total number of students and adults filled out) and payment to the ticket office upon arrival. If your departure time has changed, notify the Education staff upon arrival.

Bus Parking
Free bus parking is available. Parking instructions will be given upon arrival.

The Visit

9:45 - 10:00 a.m.
Orientation / Divide into two equal groups. Determine groups prior to visit.
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
One group will tour upstairs and one group downstairs. The upstairs group will be divided into four smaller groups. Determine groups and chaperones assigned to each group prior to visit.
11:00 - 12:00 p.m.
Upstairs / downstairs groups will switch.
12:00 - 12:30 p.m.
Students have bag lunch in the Sports Gallery if scheduled.


First Floor Tour Includes:
An education program in the Promethean ACTIVclassroom, the interactive exhibits, and vewing your choice of “Visions of Our Champions” or ESPN motivational footage in the Cox Digital Theater.

Second Floor Tour Includes:
Interactive exhibits and displays such as the Bon Secours Training Room, Barry Parkhill Gymnasium, Chuck Boone Sportsplex, Redskins Skybox, Virginia Golf Room, Paul Sawyer Auto Racing Hall and the Reaction, Balance and Leap Challenges.

Late Arrivals
Please allow enough time to arrive 20 minutes prior to the scheduled time of your visit. If your group is more than 10 minutes late, we cannot guarantee the scheduled program or tour.

Cancellations
All scheduled school groups, including grant recipients, must make cancellations no later than one week in advance. Otherwise, the total cost for the group will be required.

Chaperones
• One chaperone per every 10 students is required. One chaperone for every eight students for grades K-2.
• Classroom teachers get in free. For kindergarten classes, teachers’ assistants also get in free.
• Additional adult chaperones will pay the same rate as the students.
• Special Education classes required by the school to have one chaperone per student will receive free admission for one adult per student. All other adult chaperones will pay the student rate.

Student Conduct
Chaperones are responsible for the behavior of the group, and must remain with the group at all times. The museum reserves the right to terminate the visit of any group or individual, without reimbursement, that is inadequately supervised or fails to act responsibly.

Lunches
Students may bring a bag lunch and eat in the Sports Gallery before returning to school. Based upon availability, the Sports Gallery can be reserved at the time of scheduling.

The Final Score Gift Shop
Students will be given time to visit the gift shop if requested by the teacher. Requests must be made at the time the trip is scheduled. Only 10 students, with a chaperone, are allowed at a time in order to better serve you. Goody bags are available upon request at the time of scheduling. They cost only $1.00 each and include a key chain, bracelet, and pencil. (Contents may vary according to availability.)
